Returning from their Memorial Day recess, Democratic leaders in the House are trying to determine how to move forward with energy and climate change legislation. Members of the Obama administration appear to hope that House leadership will fast track the legislation in order to have the bill on the House floor before the July 4 recess. The legislation is currently being reviewed by a number of committees and the schedule going forward is likely to be a function of how much time the House Ways and Means Committee and the Agriculture Committee spend on the legislation. Regardless, it appears that the floor debate will begin in late June or when Congress returns from their July 4 break.
