As we reported in the last Property Update, the Government published two further consultations in May, relating to Phase One of the route of High Speed 2 (HS2), the proposed national high speed rail network linking North and South. Phase One will connect London's Euston Station to a new station at Birmingham Curzon Street.
The first of these latest consultations proposes a series of changes to the route which Phase One will take, including proposals for Euston station. The second consultation relates to the draft environmental statement for Phase One, which assesses the likely significant environmental effects of construction and operation of Phase One.
This is a reminder that both consultations close on 11 July 2013. The Government will then spend some time finalising the route design and the environmental statement for Phase One, before deciding whether it also has to change the draft safeguarding directions which were consulted on in late 2012/early 2013.
