The American Coalition for Clean Coal Electricity (ACCCE) has released a list of more than 80 carbon capture and storage demonstration projects. The majority of the projects represent research and development projects for commercial deployment of CCS technology, while some focus just on the capture portion and others on the storage component. Joe Lucas, senior VP of ACCCE, said,

Obviously, the research, demonstration, and deployment of such new technologies won't be cheap. The projects on this list alone represent an investment of over $1 billion. As it has done in the past and will continue to do in the future, the private sector will be a full partner with government in sharing these current and ongoing project costs. Bringing proven technologies to market on an accelerated timetable will require even greater government and private investment.
