The European Parliament updated its procedure file on the proposed Directive on the prevention of the use of the financial system for the purpose of money laundering and terrorist financing (known as the Fourth Money Laundering Directive or MLD4). The EU Parliament will consider MLD4 from 14 to 17 April 2014. A Presidency compromise text on MLD4 have been circulated. The Directive will be accompanied by a Regulation.
On 17 September 2013, the European Parliament's special committee on organised crime, corruption and money laundering (CRIM), announced that it adopted its final report.
The EU Parliament issued a press release announcing the final report as a "crackdown hit list", and as setting out an EU action plan for 2014-19 on organised crime, corruption and money laundering. The Parliament should consider the final report from 21 to 24 October 2013.
