Based on revenue adjustments, Governor Strickland issued an Executive Order on April 22, 2009 outlining cost cutting measures for 2009 and ordering spending plan reductions for the 2010-2011 biennium. The Order directs Executive Agencies to reduce their budgets by 30 percent. Part of these cost cutting measures should be achieved through renegotiating or rebidding contracted services, according to the Order. The new edict from the Governor suggests furniture purchases, mailing expenses, and information technology expenses, among others, as potential ways to realize cost savings. In addition, the Office of Budget and Management Director is to re-adjust all mileage reimbursement rates for state employees.
