Environmental consultants ADAS, claim that an “acceptable level of environmental impact” needs to be built into planning guidelines to stop UK planning policy being at odds with renewable energy targets. Ray Williams, head of corporate at ADAS argued that ultimately, people must weigh up whether manmade global warming - which he said threatened our way of life - was more of a priority than a level of localised environmental shock. “If the UK is serious about meeting its renewable energy targets, development guidelines need to be reviewed and allow room for officials to approve developments even if they have some level of negative environmental impact.”
