Spain - The AEPD publishes the results of the first sectoral inspection in Europe on cloud services in the educational field The Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD) has issued a report on cloud services in the education field which assesses the degree of compliance with the data protection regulation. The sector is characterized by a high number of actors involved, and the application of the technology in this area provides innovative approaches at an educational level, but at the same time may imply high privacy concerns and risks. Thus, the report shows the great volume of data handled and the diverse data typology, ranging from purely administrative content to particularly sensitive data. As a conclusion, the document contains 22 recommendations that intend to rectify any deficiencies in compliance with the data protection laws. Of particular interest are issues on location data, nature of the cloud (private, public or hybrid) and security responsibilities.
