The Securities and Exchange Commission is the latest government agency to issue cybersecurity guidance, this time focused on investment firms and investment advisers. In light of the need to protect sensitive and confidential client information from unauthorized third parties, the SEC guidance discusses a number of cybersecurity strategies, such as conducting periodic threat and vulnerability assessments and developing written plans and rapid response capabilities for dealing with cyberattacks.
