It has been hard to avoid the extensive press coverage of Mr Clarkson’s dealings with Mr Tymon since March 2015, when allegedly Mr Clarkson subjected Mr Tymon to a racist and physical attack. The press has suggested that this event ultimately lead to the demise of Mr Clarkson’s working relationship with the BBC. Mr Tymon subsequently brought claims against the BBC and Mr Clarkson for racial discrimination and personal injury.
On 24 February, it was announced that Mr Tymon had reached a settlement with the BBC and Mr Clarkson which will prevent Mr Tymon from pursuing his claims in an Employment Tribunal. As part of this settlement, Mr Tymon will receive more than £100,000 compensation and a public apology from Mr Clarkson.
