Japan former lawmaker Toshio Yamauchi arrested for embezzlement
Japan's former lawmaker, Toshio Yamauchi, was arrested on suspicion of embezzling some ¥100 million from a joint company effectively co-headed by him to finance his own acquisition of immovable properties in the city of Kyoto and Higashikagawa.
Toshio Yamauchi denied the embezzlement allegations, claiming that he had only borrowed the money from the joint company and would return the money after realizing a profit from his investments. [28 Nov 2021]
