As a result of a consultation exercise the DCLG has announced changes to the publicising of planning applications. Firstly the department will require local planning authorities to publish information on planning applications and decisions on their websites. This is something that many do already. The department will retain the statutory obligation to publish certain applications in local newspapers. Finally it will increase the period for display of listed building and conservation area consents on site. Currently this is 7 days and this will increase to 21 days. The department hopes to make the changes in the spring.
