The European Chemicals Agency (ECH A) has published a preliminary list of 91 hazardous substances for risk evaluation under the European Union’s (EU ’s) regulation on the registration, evaluation and authorization of chemicals (RE ACH ). ECH A aims to adopt a final list by the end of February 2012.

According to the agency, the substances are suspected of either being persistent, bioaccumulative and toxic, or having endocrine-disrupting or carcinogenic properties. They are also likely to have “wide dispersive use or consumer uses.” The substances will be assigned for evaluation to different EU member states and will be evaluated during the 2012-2014 period.
