In a recent report a Canadian task force recommended that the federal and provincial governments of Canada allocate $2 billion to help ease the burden as private sectors begin to invest in the development of carbon capture and storage technology. With funding from the government it would then cost the private sector an additional $4 billion for the CCS projects. The plan calls for 5 large-scale CCS projects to be underway by 2015. The task force believes that with the use of CCS technology alone it can reduce emissions by a projected 40% by 2050.
