Andrew Warwick-Thompson, the Pensions Regulator's executive director for  defined contribution, has warned against the "over-enthusiastic" blocking of  transfer requests due to pension liberation concerns, in light of a member's  statutory entitlement to a cash equivalent transfer value upon request.  Warwick-Thompson cautioned trustees in taking any further action beyond  providing members with the Scorpion campaign information and asking for a  written response from members confirming that they have read the literature  and still wish to proceed with the transfer. He also warned that any further  action at this point may lead to trustees inadvertently blocking legitimate  transfer requests.
