Last night, President Dilma Rousseff signed into law Brazil’s so-called clean company act, a sweeping piece of anti-corruption legislation that aims to introduce an effective corporate compliance culture.
In the process, she vetoed three aspects of the bill, making it effectively tougher than originally projected.
In the next few days we will provide a deeper look at the new law, which goes into effect January 24, 2014. Those doing business in Brazil will need to relearn how to do business in the country under very different rules.
