On 16 October 2014, the Financial Stability Board (FSB) published a consultation on guidance for national supervisors regarding the identification of critical functions and critical shared services for systemically important insurers (SIIs). The guidance aims to assist national supervisors who implement recovery and resolution planning requirements (set out by the FSB and the IAIS) in respect of insurance undertakings and groups whose failure could cause a systemic issue. Responses are invited by 15 December 2015. The FSB also updated its publication setting out the key attributes of effective resolutions regimes for non-bank financial institutions to include new guidance on the resolution framework for SIIs.
