As you may well be aware, the right to request flexible working currently applies to employees who are responsible for the care of a child under 17 (or a disabled child under 18). However, from 6 April 2011, the right will be extended to employees who care for a child who is under the age of 18. In preparation for the coming changes, the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) has published a new application form for use by employees requesting flexible working.
