Ireland's Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Mary Mitchell O'Connor TD, confirmed on 5 July 2016 that her department is drafting a Statutory Instrument (i.e., Ministerial order) to implement "Directive 2014/104/EU on certain rules governing actions for damages under national law for infringements of the competition law provisions of Member States and of the European Union" (the so-called "Damages Directive"). The Minister acknowledged, in a parliamentary question to Alan Kelly TD, that some provisions of the Directive already exist in national legislation or in existing court rules but that the other provisions of the Directive that need to be transposed into Irish law will be addressed in the transposing legislation, and/or by amending court rules, by the deadline of 27 December 2016.
