With the introduction of the CRC less than three months away (see our flyer), the British Property Federation has published a consultation aimed at achieving cross-industry consensus on how the cost of complying with the scheme can be divided between landlords and tenants in new leases.

As reported in our previous article, the CRC will, in certain circumstances, make landlords financially responsible for carbon dioxide emissions at their tenanted properties.

According to the BPF, industry standard CRC provisions would avoid the need for lengthy negotiations and also make property management more straightforward. The consultation remains open until 5 February and a copy of the consultation document can be found here.
