Since our last posting on silent calls, Ofcom has been busy sending letters to call centre operators, reminding them of them of the new regulations which come into force today to prevent repeat silent calls through the use of automated calling systems. Ofcom can impose a penalty of up to £2 million for the most serious instances of persistent misuse of an electronic network or service.

Here’s hoping the industry will pay attention and Ofcom will see a massive reduction in the number of complaints from recipients of silent calls, which exceeded 9000 last year.
