You may remember that we highlighted in our January alert 'a new year, some new deadlines' the deadline of 6 April 2009 for members who want to take advantage of the enhanced and primary protection regime.

With that deadline now a little over two weeks away, trustees and their administration teams may want to send a final reminder to any members for whom this might be relevant.

As explained in the alert, an individual wanting to claim the protections must have completed form APSS 200 issued by HM Revenue & Customs before 6 April 2009 having gathered information about their benefits as at 5 April 2006. While the responsibility for registering rests with the member, the individuals likely to be affected by this issue might well appreciate a final reminder so that they can consider taking action before the opportunity is lost.
