- The NLRB released a free mobile application for iPhone and Android users which provides employees and employers with information about their rights and obligations under the NLRA, contact information for NLRB regional offices, and information about union election processes.
- Unifor, Canada’s largest private-sector union (300,000 workers), was created with the merger of the Canadian Auto Workers and the Communications, Energy, and Paperworkers Union of Canada. Unifor’s goal is to promote the organization of Canada’s non-unionized workers. Ten percent of funds raised through membership dues will be used for organizing activities; another 10 percent will be set aside as a defense/strike fund; 75 percent will be allocated to a general fund for the union’s operation; and the rest to education and convention funds.
