In our October update, it was noted that TPR had published guidance on pension trustees’ conflicts of interest. This month, the Investment Management Association (IMA) has published 5 case studies designed to help pension fund trustees assess potential conflicts of interest faced by their professional advisers.

The case studies consider several situations in which fiduciary advice and commercial services are provided by one adviser. The aim is not to suggest that the existence of a conflict is necessarily detrimental to the scheme members’ interests, but provides questions which trustees may wish to ask themselves if similar circumstances arise.
