Launched approximately one year ago, the USPTO’s electronic filing system, known as EFS-Web, has exceeded its first year goals, according to the USPTO. The EFS-Web system is a convenient web-based system for filing new applications and amendments and other papers in existing applications. Patent applicants receive visual confirmation of filings made electronically and can retrieve the submissions online and confirm that documents have been safely received. The EFS-Web system is especially convenient because it accepts documents filed in PDF format and allows most common documents to be filed electronically, including payment of required fees.
