On 7 May 2017 the law introducing an automated system of fare collection in municipal public transport entered into legal force (the “Law”).
The Law allows municipal authorities to use the automated system of fare collection in urban passenger transport and defines electronic tickets, electronic registration of travel documents, free e-tickets, etc.
It is hoped that the Law will facilitate quick and convenient payments in local passenger transport, as well as strengthen control over passenger traffic flow.
The Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine commented that a pilot project on e-tickets in urban passenger transport would be implemented in several large cities, starting in Lviv and Dnipro.
