The Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman has released figures that show that complaints about health bodies have risen from 14,429 in 2009-10 to 15,066 in 2010- 2011.

However the number of complaints accepted are only marginally different with 346 being accepted for 2009-2010 and 351 being accepted for 2010-2011.  

Approximately two thirds of the complaints reported on related to acute trusts and of those reported on 64 per cent were upheld and 15 per cent were partially upheld which is a little higher than the previous year.
