Some residents in Penkridge, Staffordshire have not received a visit from a postman in over a month since Royal Mail placed a ban on their employees visiting the area due to uneven paving.
The ban was issued after one of Royal Mail’s postmen tripped over a raised pavement stone in the area on one of his rounds and suffered ‘serious injuries’. As a result, the affected residents now have to make a 14 mile round trip in order to collect their post from the nearest Royal Mail depot!
Royal Mail has since issued a statement stating that postal deliveries to the Penkridge estate will not be resumed until the paving has been fixed as it will not compromise the health and safety of its employees.
