As reported in the June edition of the Accountancy Update, the Supreme Court has granted Prudential permission to appeal the Court of Appeal’s judgment that confirmed that legal professional privilege does not apply to any other professionals except for qualified lawyers (Prudential PLC and Prudential (Gibraltar) Limited v Special Commissioner of Income Tax and Philip Pandolfo (HM Inspector of Taxes). The Law Society and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales have been granted leave to intervene in the appeal.
