On June 13, the Ohio House of Representatives formally rejected the amendments made to House Bill 59, the budget bill for the 2014-2015 fiscal biennium, by the Senate. Therefore, the bill will be referred to a conference committee. The conference committee will attempt to work out differences in a manner that is acceptable to both chambers. The conference committee consists of six members, three (two Republicans and one Democrat) from each chamber. Those members are Representatives Amstutz, McClain and Sykes, and Senators Oelslager, Coley and Sawyer.

Any resolution reached by the conference committee must be approved by both houses and then signed by the governor to become law. The first meeting of the conference committee, scheduled for June 13, has been postponed to June 18.
