Australia is likely to persist with a carbon tax from July 2012 despite a new poll revealing increasing public opposition. A recent survey showed that only 30 per cent of Australians back the Labor Government’s plan to tax carbon emissions from 1 July 2012, while 60 per cent of voters are against it. Critics fear that, without a global agreement, Australian proposals will cost jobs and erode the competitiveness of Australian business.
