UK Home Office issues important alert in relation to English language tests administered by the Education Testing Service (ETS).
ETS is a provider of tests that have previously been accepted as evidence of English language ability by UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI). The two tests administered by ETS are:
- TOEIC - Test of English Language for International Communication; and
- TOEFL - Test of English Language as a Foreign Language.
Due to concerns over the security of the tests administered by ETS, the UKVI will not consider any applications supported by a TOEIC or TOEFL test until further notice. Candidates with pending applications who do not wish to delay the outcome of their applications until UKVI investigations conclude, can take an English language test with another approved provider in order to meet the requirement. Should the TOEIC and/or TOEFL tests be removed from the approved list of English language test providers, all current and prospective applicants who are relying on such tests will be given an appropriate opportunity to demonstrate they meet the English language requirement in support of an application for further leave to remain.
The UKVI have advised that the relevant department is writing to all those who have applications that are still pending where the applicant is relying on a test certificate from ETS.
