The FCC has submitted its rules on public file announcements to the OMB for approval under the PRA. The July 3 edition of the Federal Register indicates that the FCC made the submission on June 27.

The new rules, passed as part of the FCC's Enhanced Disclosure proceeding, require stations to include a notice of the existence, location and accessibility of the station's public file during the twice daily station identification announcement.

OMB is seeking comment under the PRA concerning: 1) whether the rules are "necessary for the proper performance of the Commission"; 2) whether the Commission's burden estimate of 10 minutes to 1.33 hours per station is accurate; and 3) ways to minimize the burden on stations. Comments are due to the OMB no later than August 4, 2008.
