• The housing pass was introduced in Flanders on 27 December 2018. The housing pass is a digital passport of a residential building that collects various information about the building, the land and the environment (soil certificate, asbestos certificate, permits, EPC, information about renovation works carried out, etc.) (see also our previous e-zine of 4 January 2019 , and e-flashes of July 1, 2021 , February 15, 2022 and August 4, 2022 );
  • The functionality of the Housing ID has since been further expanded:
    • possibility for every owner to add all (renovation) works that he carries out to his home (including all relevant documentation and evidence, e.g. offers, invoices, plans, photos, etc.);
    • the housing pass provides a timeline that clearly indicates when which work must be carried out by which date in accordance with the renovation obligation for residential buildings ;
    • automatic recording of prepared asbestos certificates for a home (or for the common parts of an apartment building);
    • in the spring of 2023, the green-blue level will be integrated into the housing pass. The green-blue level is a purely informative indicator about the climate resilience of a home (e.g. biodiversity and cooling (green aspects), rainwater collection and rainwater use (blue aspects), etc.);
  • The housing pass can be consulted via www.woningpas.vlaanderen.be and you can register via e-ID card or 'Itsme';
  • At the end of 2023, the legislator wishes to further expand the housing pass to a so-called building pass for all non-residential buildings.
