According to Resolution No. 106-146-DGMM of 14 December 2012, the Shipping Bureau has decided that as of 1 June 2013, all the vessels of 500 TRB or more must keep on board a Class’s Certificate stating that her structure, engine and electronic equipment meet all the requirements requested by the international Conventions which has been recognized by Panamanian law. Said Class’s Certificate, shall be issued by the vessel´s relevant Recognized Organization on behalf of the Panamanian government.

Cargo vessels with a Gross Tonnage not exceeding 500 tons, vessel without engine propulsion, wood vessels, non-commercial yachts and fishing vessels will not require to comply with the aforesaid guideline.
