The Hong Kong Equal Opportunities Commission has successfully argued that a club offering gender-based discounts by way of a "ladies' night" promotion acted unlawfully.

The Commission filed the case against a Hong Kong club after receiving a complaint from a male customer that the club was breaching sex discrimination laws by charging men more for drinks than women. Its case was that such sex-based pricing policies are unlawful under the Sex Discrimination Ordinance.

The Respondent club did not appear to defend the case and judgment was given in favour of the Commission.
