On 20 March 2013, new legislation came into force which amends the list of military items subject to UK export controls and the scope of those controls.

The Export Control (Amendment) Order 2013 (the “Order”) amends Schedule 2 of the Export Control Order 2008 which lists military goods, software and technology that are subject to export controls. The amendments affect anyone exporting military goods, software and technology. In particular, exporters of historic vehicles or aircraft will need to review the scope of the amended decontrols and exporters of body armour or protective garments and components will need to review the scope of controls on these items.
