- Stay Active
Being active can improve flexibility, strength and coordination which will allow you to gain better control of the wheel. Make an effort to get some exercise everyday, whether it be a walk in the park or an aerobics class.
- Take defensive driving and refresher courses
The rules of the road may have changed since you started driving so it’s always a good idea to take a refresher course so you are up to date on all of the rules of the road. Defensive driving courses are also an extremely helpful way to improve all of your driving skills and stay safe.
- Check your medicine
Make sure you are aware of the side effects of your medication and consult with your doctor if it is safe to drive. Stay off the roads if you feel drowsy or tired as a result of taking medication.
- Schedule hearing and vision tests regularly
Make sure your hearing and vision is up to par by visiting your doctor regularly. Visiting your doctor can prevent certain diseases from getting worse by catching them early. Many of these illnesses such as cataracts, macular degeneration and glaucoma make it challenging to see at night, so if vision is problematic for you during the dark then limit yourself to driving only in the daytime.
