Wearing its telecommunications regulator hat, the Commission has announced that it will publish its final decision on the price Chorus can charge for access to the unbundled copper local loop (UCLL) alongside the draft decision on charging for unbundled bitstream access (UBA), as the new price for the UCLL has a direct impact on the draft price for UBA. Both will now be announced on Monday 3 December 2012.

Both the UCLL and UBA prices are required to be set by the Commission as a result of amendments to the Telecommunications Act last year, when Telecom separated its network arm (Chorus) from its retail arm. The UCLL and UBA prices determine what Chorus can charge retailers for access to copper phone lines for local calling and ADSL broadband.
