The merger of MAP and Antalis, both active in the fine paper distribution market, has raised concerns for the European Commission (Commission) that the proposed concentration would harm competition in the UK. Both parties are highly active in the UK’s paper distribution market accounting for around 75 per cent of the national market. In order to obtain clearance, the parties have agreed to sell Premier, one of MAP’s paper merchant subsidiaries. The purchaser will also be given the option to conclude logistic service contracts with gm2, Antalis’ logistics arm in the UK. The Commission is satisfied that, with these commitments, the merger will not significantly impede competition in the paper distribution market.
