Today, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) issued an order approving Dominion Cove Point LNG’s (DCP) application to export LNG from the proposed Cove Point LNG export terminal in Lusby, Md. to nations without a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with the United States. The order is the fourth authorization to export LNG to non-FTA nations DOE has granted. The authorization is conditioned on DCP commencing commercial LNG export operations no later than seven years from the date of the order and DCP’s satisfactory completion of the environmental review process for the export terminal. DOE’s order can be found here, and the complete docket for the DCP project can be found on DOE’s website. Read more in the press release.
