During a recent meeting, the Euclid City Council in Cuyahoga County passed a resolution to show its support for the Lake Erie Energy Development Corporation's (LEEDCo) Icebreaker offshore wind energy project, The News-Herald reports. LEEDCo is attempting to garner support for the project from lakeshore communities in an effort to receive a "$46.7 million grant from the U.S. Department of Energy" (See our June 22, 2013, blog post – "LEEDCo asks communities to pledge to buy Lake Erie windpower"). Toward this effort, the group started the "Power Pledge," which "asks if people would support clean energy from Icebreaker and if they would buy a portion of the electricity generated," the article said.
