As you may be aware, there are several new drug administration CPT codes published which were effective January 1, 2009.

The AMA made these changes so that all of the drug administration codes are printed sequentially rather than listed in two different sections of the CPT coding book. However, this recommendation will result in the need to make changes in your hospital's CDM, charge forms, etc. prior to billing for services on or after January 1, 2009.

See the chart here for a crosswalk from the 2008 drug administration CPT codes to the 2009 codes.

It is important to note that the coding instructions as printed in the CPT Coding Book are not included in this article, only the CPT codes and the CPT narrative descriptions.
