OSHA's Scarlet Letter. After statistics revealed that 3 million workers were injured on the job in 2012, OSHA proposed a new rule that requires employers to submit injury logs electronically. These logs will ultimately be placed online for public viewing. OSHA argues that publishing the data online will improve tracking, encourage employers to reduce potential hazards, and give prospective employees information to consider when making the decision on where to work. This new rule may work. Few things motivate like a healthy dose of public shame.
