• The nuclear industry association FORATOM has welcomed the European Parliament’s adoption of a report on conventional energy and energy technology. The report stresses that nuclear power is “indispensable” to meet the EU’s basic energy needs in the medium term (Europolitics, October 26, 2007, p. 6)
  • The European Commission is examining a Kazakh law which gives the state a priority purchase right in all mineral companies. The European Commission fears that this law may be used against EU companies eliminating them from ongoing oil and gas projects or radically reducing their interests (Europolitics, October 26, 2007, p. 15)
