- David Durkee became international president of the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers, and Grain Millers’ International Union (BCTGM). Mr. Durkee has a long history with the BCTGM. He became a member in 1973 as a baker in Evansville, Ind., and served Local 280 as a business agent and financial secretary before becoming an international representative in 1986. Mr. Durkee went on to become the International Director of Organization in 1990 and International Executive Vice President in 1992. Mr. Durkee succeeds longtime president Frank Hurt, who held the office for 20 years. Mr. Hurt’s retirement became effective January 1, 2013.
