On March 6, there was published in the Federal Official Gazette a “Ruling admitting a request of an interested party and declaring the beginning of an anti-dumping investigation on imports of pencils under tariff item 9609.10.01 of the General Import and Export Duty Tariff, originating from the People's Republic of China, regardless of the country of shipment.”

As a result, the Department of the Economy will investigate any potential grounds for international unfair trade practice of price discrimination1, during the following periods:

Investigation:October 1, 2011 through September 30, 2012
Analysis of injury and causation: October 1, 2009 through September 30, 2012

The purpose of the investigation is to impose countervailing (anti-dumping) duties on imports of pencils; thus, any interested parties2 may participate in such investigation and submit answers to the official questionnaire on or before April 9, 2013.
