On November 21, 2017, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) extended the date by which employers must electronically report injury and illness data through the Injury Tracking Application (ITA) (https://www.osha.gov/injuryreporting/index.html) to December 15, 2017.

The rule requires certain employers that already submit physical records of workplace injuries and illnesses to do so electronically. The rule applies to businesses with 250 or more employees and to businesses with 20 or more employees in certain high-risk industries, including construction, manufacturing and utilities. The 2016 Form 300A now must be submitted by December 15, 2017.

OSHA is reviewing the other provisions of its final rule to Improve Tracking of Workplace Injuries and Illnesses and intends to publish a notice of proposed rulemaking in 2018 to reconsider, revise, or remove portions of that rule.
