On 10 October 2017, the European Commission published its 3rd annual report on the implementation of the EU-Colombia/Peru trade agreement which has been applied provisionally since 2013. It notes that the FTA is "functioning well overall", but that some areas "need further attention", citing Peruvian sanitary and phytosanitary measures on EU exports of agricultural problems and taxation of spirits as examples. The EU would also like the two countries to put more effort into the protection of geographical indications and into labour and environmental issues.
