On 13 December 2022, the EU Commission launched the process to adopt an adequacy decision for the EU-US Data Privacy Framework that will allow the free and secure transfer of personal data to the United States. The process involves an initial, albeit non-binding, opinion from the European Data Protection Board; then the approval of a committee composed of representatives of the European Union Member States will be required; lastly, the EU Parliament will have the final right of scrutiny over the draft adequacy decision.
