Vattenfall is set to begin operating a coal-fired power plant with carbon capture and storage technology next week in Germany. The 30 MW plant, at the Schwarze Pumpe power station, will produce CO2 emissions at the rate of 10 tons/hour. The carbon dioxide will be captured and transported by tanker to a local gas field for sequestration. This plant will cost just over $100 million and will use oxyfueled combustion technology.
